IMPORTANT INFORMATION

SAFETY ON THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS

After having our first year on the new site and getting to know the land, we're feeling much more secure and confident about hosting a festival here.
This location shares a border with the property we do our revegetation work on, so it's quite similar ecologically. Where it differs from Roger's is that it's pretty much purpose built for festivals! This space is much more comfortable: the ground is flatter and softer, there's loads of shade, plenty of drinking water.

During the 2017 festival, there were a few showers in the lead-up and it turned the clay-rich ground in a few of the busier intersections into deep, muddy, 4WD only bogs! You can never quite tell what the weather's going to do up here so, if you have the option, load up your mate's Troopy instead of risking it with your lowered Commadore. Just another solid reason to carpool!

We've done all that we can to ensure that the site is safe, but there's only so much that we can protect you from. We need everyone in attendance to please LOOK AFTER YOURSELVES AND EACH OTHER.

It's bordered by tropical rainforest: there may be snakes, spiders, ticks, ants, and all manner of creepy-crawlies. Be sensible: bring decent shoes and don't go wandering off into the forest.

PLEASE BE: responsible, friendly.

PLEASE BRING: shoes, groundsheets, shade tarps, drinking water, food, smiles, a shovel to plant trees.

PLEASE LEAVE BEHIND: dogs, illicit substances, glass, renegade sound systems, bad vibes.

There's a more in-depth set of "festival rules" on this page, below.

CAMPING

The ground is mostly flat and grassy. Plenty of space for camping and a few decent shade trees. First in, best dressed, as usual.
There may be a few rough/prickly areas and it's surrounded by bush, so shoes are advised for safety.
Bring along some tarps as well, in case it rains. If it rains torrentially, water may pool in a few areas, so pick your campsite strategically. Bags the high-ground if you can! ;)

DAY PARKING

Day parking will be onsite, in a paved carpark near the entrance. This will enable easy arrival and exodus for those who only wish to attend during the day and then bail to sleep in their own bed at night.

And on the subject of cars: PLEASE CARPOOL!

CARPOOLING

We are going for a low environmental footprint here. For the protction of the local environment, as well as to keep carbon emissions down and limit further global warming. We know you love your rigs but, please, it's only a few nights and we're here to help the land heal. Jump in with a mate this time.
4 to a car will get high-fives, 3 is acceptable, 2 will get dirty looks from the gate staff... :p

To that end, feel free to start a thread in the Facebook event page which can be used to advertise your "SEATS AVAILABLE" or if you "NEED A RIDE". Just post a comment in the thread with either of those headings in capitals, and give details about where and when you're leaving.
Happy ridesharing ;)

DIRECTIONS

The property is Dundee Park Academy, located at 18 South Maria Creek Cl, Mission Beach, QLD.
You can find it on your map app or GPS.

This area is home to a huge amount of wildlife, particularly the endangered Cassowary. We urge you, for the sake of the local wildlife, to PLEASE drive at a reasonable speed and do so very carefully. Too many cassowaries have already been lost to careless drivers in this region. The party will still be going when you get there. We promise! <3

THE FINE PRINT

A FEW SIMPLE RULES TO ENSURE WE ALL HAVE A FUN AND SAFE WEEKEND

  • Entry is available to people of all ages, but parents, please keep an eye on your kids. We make the place as safe as we can but, ultimately, you are responsible for their safety. If you need a bit of a break from the parenting, we have a kids space where they will be entertained and looked after.
  • Camping is first in, best dressed. There's plenty of room and heaps of shade, but get in early to snag the really good spots. Please be friendly and share the space with each other. You know how crowded festivals can get. Expect to sacrifice a little privacy for the weekend!
  • A Government issued, valid photo ID may be requested at entry to identify you as the ticket-holder.
  • Refunds on purchased ticket are a real pain in the bum for us! Name changes are easier so we'd prefer it if you just sold it on to a mate. Try the Facebook event page if you need to. Having said that, we're not monsters. If you hit some serious circumstances, get in touch on contact@coalescence.xyz and we can try to work something out for you.
  • Please keep your wristband on at all times. Security will be looking out for them and we've heard all the excuses before so tell your mates not to try sneaking in. It will not be tolerated! If you're heaps broke, get over to the volunteers application and join the helpers team instead ;)
  • Audio and/or video recording is encouraged. Go ahead and make, create, store, record and/or transmit any kind of sound recording, visual footage, or still photography of the event. Just please share it with us if you get something good. We might even use it on next year's promo video.
  • Security procedures, including frisking, remain the right of the management. We'll have the professional do it though.
  • No dangerous or potentially hazardous objects (including but not limited to weapons, knives, guns, fireworks, helmets, laser devices, stubbies) will be allowed in the venue and may be pinched off you at the door. Yes, it's BYO, but please just bring tinnies or mix your drinks into plastic/metal water-bottles.
  • The sponsors/performers/organizers are not responsible for any injury or damage occurring due to the event. Please look after yourselves and each other. If you happen to hurt yourself and we can't work out an amicable solution that satisfies all parties involved, issues may need to settled in court, and nobody wants that. :(
  • No drug use allowed - consumption of narcotics is illegal and those found in possession of or consuming narcotics at the event will be handed over to the appropriate authorities
  • Ticket holders in an inebriated state may not be allowed entry: don't get wasted before you rock up. Matter of fact, try not to get wasted at all! This will be a weekend to remember, not one you forget!
  • Bad behaviour will not be tolerated. We reserve the right for security to remove you from the property for being naughty. Even if you have a legit wristband!

HAVE FUN, GUYS: LET'S CELEBRATE THE GOODNESS OF FNQ!
